Radon is a colorless, odorless gas that occurs naturally worldwide.
Radon has been present since the earth was formed, but only recently has it been linked to health issues. Since 1986 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been attempting to raise awareness about radon and the negative health effects, but only recently have they started to succeed. Laws have been passed in certain states that require radon testing before a real estate transaction can be completed, due to this many more homes are being tested. According to the EPA, Radon causes 21,000 deaths due to lung cancer each year, which is second only to the damaged caused by smoking. Radon is in the air all around us, but is found in its highest concentrations in mines and in homes around the globe. The EPA estimates that 1 out of every 15 homes has an elevated level of radon, have your home tested today!
